Anando Brahma (2017)

Movie: Anando Brahma (2017)
Genre: Horror/Comedy
Runtime: 123 minutes

A NRI wants to sell his property back in India. Rumored as a ghost house, no one will be daring to buy it. To prove it wrong four innocent people who need money desperately will be ready for the challenge.

Tapsee was good in her role but doesn’t have any significant role, her presence just given a star value for the movie. The four principle characters played by Srinivas reddy, Kishore, Ramesh and Shankar were apt to their roles. Each one will be having pitiable flashbacks and a weakness which turns as a strength when they face ghosts, this part was very well written by the director Mahi and it was major plus points for the film. Rajeev Kanakaala in a significant role impresses. Rest of the cast was overshadowed by the main lead.

Direction and screenplay by Mahi K Raghav was good and sensible. The story narrated by him was simple yet effective. In the first fifteen minute’s narration was terrific afterwards it slows down and he took his sweet time to enter into the actual plot. I do agree with his narration because such plots requires establishment of characters. Audience will like his Humor filled dialogues. He took references like the clapping episode from the conjuring, flashback episode from old chandramohan’s movie and so on, but they look ok. Editing by shravan was apt and the background score by K was excellent. I liked the camerawork by Anish as the entire movie was shoot in a single house it would be difficult for a cinematographer to make it interesting but he overcomes this with different camera angles supported with effective lighting. Production values are decent.

Anando brahma is an unusual film compared to contemporary commercial Telugu movies. It is different kind of movie in this genre for its concept and content. Truly appreciate director’s narrative skills and brilliant technical support for the movie. The makers spend good amount on publicity than the production cost and I bet it will work big at box office with good mouth talk. Go watch it for its novel concept.

Verdict: 4 / 5
