Movie: LIE (Telugu - 2017)
Genre: Drama / Thriller / Action
Runtime: 145 minutes

A. Satyam (Nithin) a small time thief gets involved in catching antagonist Padmanabha (Arjun) a noted criminal for whom Indian intelligence will be searching for 19 years. The entire story will be narrated by Indra (Prudhvi) and Narada (Brahmaji).

Nithin makeover should be giving thumbs up. He’s energy levels and body language suited character very well. Mega Akash looks good but her character lacks clarity. The chemistry between the lead pair was awesome but it doesn’t sink with the story. Choosing Arjun in a negative role was a terrific idea and he did his job well. Limited role for rest of the cast and they were ok in their roles.

Movie starts of very well by showing strength of villain but once heroine and hero characters gets introduced it looses its tempo.  As initially said Indra and Narada will be narrating the story and this aspect makes audience confuse. One will get a doubt whether they were watching a fantasy genre or an action thriller and this definitely looses their interest over director’s narration. Movie gets unfolded during pre-interval episode and makes it interesting to watch second half. But the jerky narration in the later half will dilute the plot. The pre-climax twists were good and few of the action scenes were shot very well. The climax was hurried a bit and there was no clarification regarding Villains suit.

Director Hanu Raghavapudi’s narration was not crisp. His screenplay was good only in parts reason was no synch love story and fantasy elements. Dialogues were good. The artwork and cinematography was excellent brings richness to the movie. Needless to say it saves many negative factors of the story. Background score was good. Miss Sunshine and Bombhaat Songs were shot well. Editing was not satisfactory.

Storyline was taken from the famous phase in “ashwathama ataha kunjaraha” Mahabharata. As all the main characters will be telling LIES to achieve their aim. The idea was good but director failed to implement it. Producers should be appreciated for novel and different experimental concept. But over experimentation leads to disappointment.

Verdict: 2.5 / 5
