Movie: Tubelight (Hindi - 2017)
Genre: Drama / Action
Runtime: 136 minutes
Tubelight
is an adaptation of the 2015 American film Little boy. Director Kabir Khan has changed the script
with a Sino-Indian war backdrop. Laxman (Salman Khan) is an
innocent, good-hearted person who will be called as Tubelight by his friends
and the villagers due to his low IQ levels. In this processes he will loose
self-confidence and his brother Bharath (Sohail Khan) is the only one who
believes in him. Laxman sets out to find his brother who will be fighting at
Sino-Indian war.
Salman
khan tried his best to be in the character of Laxman. Most of the time his
character will be filled with emotions and to an extent he executed well. His
character has lot of comparisons with that of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Om Puri excels
in his role of Banne Chacha
and Sohail
khan was ok as Laxman’s Brother. Little to talk about rest of the cast, as
there are no strong characters in the movie.
With
wafer thin story line scriptwriter cum director Kabir Khan has failed to
showcase film in a bright manner. One will doubt the director’s capability (he
is the same director who made movies like Ek tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and
New York). Direction and Screenplay was poor as there were no engaging
sequences, which make audiences to cheer about. Even the war sequences were
looking dull. Dialogues were not appealing; after some time you feel your
watching a television serial on a large screen.
Ladakh
locations were captured well by Asheem Mishra. Thanks to the editor for restricting
the movie to 2 hr 16 mins. Background score by Julius Packiam was impressive. Radio
Song by Pritam was good, actually it was best part of the movie and other songs
were ok. Artwork was simple as whole movie was shot with single set. Production
values are ok.
Overall,
Tubelight was big disappointment from Salman khan. If the makers concentrated
on the screenplay aspect and characterizations there would be huge difference
in the movie output. You can miss this flick.
Verdict: 2 / 5
